Coronavirus outbreak: Quebec announces 14 new deaths, additional police checkpoints | FULL
Quebec Deputy Premier Geneviève Guilbault, joined by Danielle McCann, minister of health and social services and the province's director of public health, Horacio Arruda, provided an update on Saturday about the situation regarding COVID-19 in the province.
Guilbault announced that the province has recored 14 new COVID-19 related deaths, bringing the total in the province to 75. As of April 4, there were a total of 6,997 confirmed cases of the illness, with 478 people hospitalized, including 130 in intensive care.
Additionally, the provincial government would be implementing police checkpoints in the Charlevoix and Rouyn-Noranda regions in order to limit non-essential travel across regions to slow the spread of COVID-19.
Montreal remains the epicentre of the novel coronavirus outbreak in the province, accounting for 3,261 of the nearly 7,000 cases.
